A bishop for the Ordinariate

On November 24, it was announced that Monsignor Steven Lopes (pictured above) will succeed Monsignor Jeffrey Steenson as Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. As Monsignor Lopes is a celibate priest, he will be ordained a bishop, the first bishop to lead any of the Personal Ordinariates established under Pope Benedict XVI’s apostolic constitution Anglicanorum coetibus. For the full story on this historic moment, see this piece from the National Catholic Register, in which our own Fr. Catania is quoted.
